Quick Answer

KP astrology, short for Krishnamurti Paddhati, is a branch of Vedic astrology built for answering yes or no questions and narrowing timing. AstroFuture AI computes your KP chart free: cuspal sub-lords for every house, the full four-step significator hierarchy and ruling planets, then explains what each one means in plain language.

KP astrology versus classical Parashari

Classical Vedic astrology, also called Parashari, reads your chart through whole-sign houses and tells you the themes of a period: "your career strengthens during this Mahadasha" is a typical Parashari statement. It is strong on character, life patterns and the meaning behind events.

KP astrology was developed by K.S. Krishnamurti to answer sharper questions: will this happen, and roughly when. It uses Placidus house cusps instead of whole signs, then goes one level deeper into each Nakshatra, dividing it into sub-lords and sub-sub-lords. The lord of the exact sub-division a house cusp falls in, called the cuspal sub-lord, becomes the deciding vote on whether that house’s matter will actually happen.

Neither system replaces the other. We compute both from the same birth data, Parashari for meaning and character, KP for verdicts and timing windows, so you can read them side by side instead of guessing which one applies to your question.

What our KP output shows you

  1. 1

    Cast the KP chart

Placidus cusps and KP ayanamsa positions for every planet.

  2. 2

    Find cuspal sub-lords

For each house, the sub-lord that decides yes or no for that house's matter.

  3. 3

    Compute significators

The four-step hierarchy: planets in the star of occupants, occupants, planets in the star of owners, and owners.

  4. 4

Layer in ruling planets and dasha

Significators are matched against your running dasha to narrow the timing window.

Who is this for?

  • People who find general predictions too vague
  • KP astrology students wanting a calculation check
  • Anyone timing a marriage, job change or property purchase
  • People with a specific yes or no question and no reliable birth time, via horary

A real example: a property purchase horary question

A user asked a KP horary question, "will the flat deal close this month", picking number 137 out of 249. The chart built for that number showed the 4th cuspal sub-lord, the house for property, signifying houses 4, 11 and 2, a combination that favours the purchase actually completing. Ruling planets at the moment of the question matched the significators of the 4th house, which narrowed the window further.

The reading named the sub-lord, the houses it signified, and the overlap with ruling planets, and pointed to a two-week window inside that month as the likely close. That is the kind of specific, checkable answer KP is built for, where classical Parashari would only have described the broader period as generally supportive.

How the sub-lord tables are kept accurate

The AstroFuture AI team at BEONE DEAL built and maintains this KP module on the Swiss Ephemeris, using KP ayanamsa for cusps and significators and Lahiri for the main Parashari chart. Sub-lord and sub-sub-lord tables follow Krishnamurti's rules exactly, and every update is checked against established KP software before release, so the cuspal sub-lord and significator output you see matches what a KP practitioner's own tools would show. For the classical Dasha-based reading alongside it, see Vedic Astrology AI.

Where KP astrology has real limits

KP is built for sharper yes-or-no questions and narrower timing, not for painting a full life picture, that is what the Parashari side of your chart is for. It also depends heavily on an accurate birth time for the main chart, and on honestly picking a number at the moment of asking for horary. A rushed or re-picked number undermines the method, and no KP reading should be treated as a guarantee rather than a strong indication.

How the cuspal sub-lord decides yes or no

Every house cusp falls inside a sign, a Nakshatra and a sub-division of that Nakshatra. The lord of that sub-division, the cuspal sub-lord, is the deciding authority for the matter of that house. If the 7th cuspal sub-lord signifies houses 2, 7 or 11, marriage is promised. If it instead signifies 1, 6 or 10, the promise is denied or heavily delayed, regardless of how many benefics sit in the 7th house itself.

This is the layer most free tools skip, because it needs sub-lord tables built on KP ayanamsa rather than Lahiri. We compute the full sub and sub-sub chain for all twelve cusps and all nine planets, and show which houses each sub-lord signifies so you can check the verdict yourself instead of trusting an unexplained answer.

A practical example: a 10th cuspal sub-lord placed in the star of a planet owning the 6th and 11th houses points toward a salaried promotion. The same sub-lord signifying the 5th and 9th without the 6th leans toward independent or consulting work. Same chart, different career direction, and only the sub-lord layer tells them apart.

Ruling planets, why KP timing narrows further than dasha alone

Vimshottari dasha alone can narrow an event to a window of a few years. KP narrows this further by layering ruling planets, the Lagna lord, Moon sign lord, Moon star lord and day lord at the moment of the question, on top of Mahadasha, Antardasha and Pratyantardasha.

When the same planets show up as both significators and ruling planets, that overlap is the timing window. We surface that overlap directly with a date range, instead of leaving you with a multi-year dasha period and no further guidance.
